Visitor access to eduroam

What is eduroam?

eduroam is a global Wi-Fi network that provides students/pupils, staff and lecturers with secure access to the wireless network of their own educational institution, as well as those of other affiliated educational institutions.

Connecting to eduroam

  • Connect to the ‘eduroam’ Wi-Fi network.
  • You have received a temporary username and password. Enter the username and password to connect to eduroam.
  • Please note: if you see an option to select the eduroam certificate, select ‘Do not validate’.

Remove eduroam

Your guest login details have a limited validity period, which is why we recommend you select ‘forget’ when disconnecting from eduroam. You will receive new temporary login details the next time you visit.

 iOS

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi
  2. Click next to the Wi-Fi network you want to remove from your device
  3. Click Forget this network and then Forget to confirm

 Android

  1. Open the Settings app on your device
  2. Click on Network Status and internet > Wi-Fi
  3. Make sure Wi-Fi is enabled
  4. Click and hold the saved network you want to remove
  5. Select Forget network

 Windows

  1. Right click on the Wi-Fi network icon on the taskbar on the right and then select Network and Internet
  2. Select Wi-Fi and then Manage known networks
  3. Select the network you want to forget and then click Forget

Rules and netiquette

The following rules apply when using eduroam:

  • As an eduroam user you are obliged to comply with the user regulations of the institution at which you are a guest.
  • In using eduroam, you agree: to comply with the rules of conduct (including netiquette); not to violate any international or Dutch legal obligations, rules of public order or morality, or the rights of third parties; and not to act unlawfully towards third parties and/or cause damage to them.
  • As a user, you may only use eduroam via the access code (the combination of username and password) issued to you by your host. This access code is personal and non-transferable. As a user, you are obliged to keep your password confidential. If your access code is misused, please report this to your host as soon as possible.
  • PLEASE NOTE: The institution at which you are a guest user may impose additional rules and conditions on the use of eduroam.
